What is your name? -Sam Ottley
Are you a Graduate Student? – Yes, in my last semester to complete my MBA!
Where are you from? Small town just 10 East of Hays, called Victoria Kansas.
Why did you enroll in this class? – I enrolled in this class because I am getting an MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Management. I think this will help advance my career as I am already working for a Heath Care IT company, Cerner in Kansas City.
Have you ever heard of this teaching style? – Though I have not heard of this type of learning, I am extremely interested in it. In the intro when you stated, “This will not be like your other classes”, I got very excited. Doing nothing but reading chapters and taking quizzes is boring. I feel like we will be able to get much more out of this using this style of learning.
What were your initial thoughts? – I am always a bit overwhelmed with starting newer classes and especially one that is so different from the others ,but I am excited the most. Doing nothing but reading chapters and taking quizzes is boring. I feel like we will be able to get much more out of this using this style of learning.
What are you expectations? -My expectations are to come out of this class with a better understanding of how to manage people and the business itself in a Heath Care setting.
Did you use FHSU Free promo for Plectica? – Yes!
Did you sign up fro Tableau? – Yes!
Looking forward to working with you all!
Great job, Sam! I am looking forward to interacting with you! Oh and you get the first 10 extra credit points.
Sam,
I think it is great that you work at Cerner, I have a friend who took a job there working on more of the business administration/mathematics side of things. I have always had classes with large amounts of quizzes and tests and chapter outline assignments, and I am curious to see how this class pans out. I had a class in my last semester of undergrad that took more of a practical, “applicable to the real world” approach to learning, and I will say that I enjoyed that significantly!
I am hoping this class will be similar and will help me understand how to apply the things we learn into any future healthcare system I may work in.
I look forward to working with you as well!
Hi Sam,
Great post! I like the map you created for this assignment. I also work at Cerner. What do you do at Cerner? I see that you mentioned this is your last semester in the MBA program. That is so exciting that you are almost done. Are you ready for the comp test at the end of the program?? I look forward to working with you this semester.

Wahhoooo!! That is awesome you are in your last semester towards your MBA. This class is the perfect ending to your adventure. I am finishing up my BS this semester and have taken a course from Dr. Jamie Schwandt previously. This will be a great experience for everyone interacting on this platform. Perspectives will be fun to see from everyone.
