    Hi there
I became an investigative Journalist because I had a desire to report things deeply. Luckily I had a mentor who taught me a lot.
In terms of steps, there is quite a lot of work that goes into picking an investigative topic and figuring out which story is the right one, has not been told, or if it has been told what is the new entry point. Many investigations uncover wrongdoing but you are always looking for something that can have a big impact. So we “kick the tires” as it were before we really dive in. Remember you have to live with your investigation for a long time and also need sources who can be the characters to make the story approachable by as wide an audience as possible.
I did not know there was such a thing as an investigative journalist when I was a kid, but I knew that I wanted to work with people and understand the universal truths in life, so this was a good choice for me.
I’m looking forward to more of your questions.
    Susanne
