Multi-Media Pitch Plan Instructions

It is time to start thinking about your final story. This can be on any topic. But, the story requires:

  • Two real-time, socially distant interviews and
  • A total of five different story sources.
  • If you want to stick with print, it should be a big-data or other investigative story that includes additional visual and hyperlinked elements.

In your pitch, tell Nick, Russell, and me about:

  • Your General Topic
  • Additional potential angles.
  • How would you explain the story in ONE sentence?
  • What are the unanswered questions you hope to explore?
  • What’s the best medium for the story?
  • If it’s video: what’s the potential for scenes and dynamic action you can take our viewers through?
  • Audio: What are the dynamic sounds we’ll hear to provide interest and emotion?
  • Interactive/Social Media: How will you get the audience involved to interact with the story?
  • Print: What are the dense details that make this much more in-depth than your weekly story?
  • In each story, who are the characters, and are they accessible?
  • Where do you need to go to tell the story?
  • What’s the potential impact of the reporting?
  • Has anyone else done this reporting regionally or nationally? How will ours differ from that?
    • REQUIRED: At least three news stories on this topic or a related topic that helps show what has been done on the story in the past.
