  1. Over the last few years I’ve paid attention to healthcare locations and satellite clinics are all over the Kansas City metro. There are family practice clinics, surgery centers, specialty clinics, ancillary services, separate free-standing hospitals, even stand alone ED’s.

    To me, a healthcare organization seems to function like most universities in the US. You have a central university (hospital organization), the separate colleges (separate hospitals within the organization) then all of the different buildings for classes, labs, etc. (satellite clinics).

    With the success it seems these have had I don’t think they’re going away anytime soon. They may continue to proliferate, especially with consumerism in healthcare.
