Participant Profile

When I was 10 my grandfather was in the hospital after a knee replacement.  He was my hero, a strong fearless man.  It broke my heart to see him in pain, I knew then I wanted to be a nurse when I grew up so I could help others like my grandpa.  While working as an L.V.N in Texas I met and worked under a Nurse Practitioner.  She became my mentor and my biggest supporter.  She encouraged me to continue my education, and because of her I have.

I started my journey at 17 as a C.N.A.  At 26, I completed the Vocational Nursing program at Texas State Technical College in Breckenridge Texas. I then moved back to Kansas where I graduated with an Associated Degree in Nursing from Brown Mackie in Salina in 2014.  I returned to school and graduated in 2018 from Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. In June of 2018 I start the DPN program also at Fort Hays State University.  This step in my education will not be the last, as I believe in nursing you never stop learning. I will  continue my education every day in order to provide the best possible care for my patients.
