- September 2018: Assembled LMS Committee and created two work groups; one with an instructional focus and one focused on technology and implementation.
- September 27th: Introductory meeting for LMS Committee.
- October 4th 2018: Faculty Survey launched.
- October 11th 2018: Survey closed and analysis of results began. discovery phase analyzing results of technology services survey and faculty survey.
- October 22nd: LMS Committee meets for initial review of survey results.
- November 7th 2018: LMS Committee meets to discuss survey results, department feedback, and to plan next steps.
- November 15th 2018: Survey results and committee timeline to be formally released to campus.
- January/February 2019: Invited the three major LMS providers (Blackboard, BrightSpace, and Canvas) to campus for one day events. During those days they presented multiple aspects of their products including:
- 1) user experience design (mobile-friendly, support flexible teaching and learning),
- 2) software and technical (accessibility, learning analytics, interoperability standards, communication planning),
- 3) timeline and implementation,
- 4) support and training,
- 5) security and compliance,
- 6) company qualifications,
- February 2019: All three vendors provided faculty with sandbox environments. TILT hosted all three vendors on campus and provided sessions where each LMS providor demonstrated their platforms. The LMS committee also provided each vendor with courses from our Blackboard Learn environment and they migrated those courses into their platforms.
- March 2019: A survey went out to faculty and staff asking those who had attended the live demonstrations, worked in the sandboxes, or watched videos of the live events.
- March 2019: LMS Committee will review data from completed surveys, campus visits, and sandbox environment evaluations, user experience studies. LMS committee will use all data to determine whether to recommend continuing with RFP process.
