Positive Effects of Living in a Technological World

I decided to do a 180 and change my topic as my previous topic was a bit difficult to find information and resources. Since the concept and use of deepfakes is fairly new, it hasn’t been highly researched yet. I have switched my research to relate to my initial questions I had in week one which was “What are the long-term effects of living in a technological world?” therefore my research now will be about “The positive effects of living in a technological world”.

The database I used for my search is GoogleScholar and FORSYTH LIBRARY.

 GoogleScholar

Search 1:

“Positive effects of technology”

Results: 6,760,000

Search 2:

“Positive effects of living in a technological world”

Results: 3,060,000

Search 3:

“Technological Influence on Society”

Results: 4,150,000

FORSYTH LIBRARY

Search 1:

“Positive effects of technology”

Results: 4,547,431

Search 2:

“Positive effects of living in a technological world”

Results: 173,247

Search 3:

“Technological Influence on Society”

Results:  500,575

The good outcome of these results is I have a wide variety that I can select from when it comes to my research. I think I can input more keywords so I can limit the results back. For me having plenty of options compared to not finding any resources is better (compared to my previous topic) and I can put more specific keywords to find what articles, etc. I would like to use it. My goal will be to refine these results to find the appropriate resources for my research. I will hope to be more specific when it comes to my topic.

I found this site while looking around on the internet. This article was published by Pew Research Center. Although I found this with a google search I found this article to be beneficial to my overall research and helped me refine what exactly I am looking for. This article brings up the topic that the Public sees science and technology as a net positive for society. Within this article are many statistics to back up the information. I like how there’s a variety of statics within this article and brings up great points such as “about half of Americans think technology has had a mostly positive effect on society; especially from easy access and speed of information” and “those who say technology has negative effect cite loss of interpersonal communication. These are all great bases to start some conversation when it comes to my research of highlighting the positive effects of living in a technological world (and or negative).

  1. I do think that living in a technology world is better for me. As my job is all about technology it is strange to think about where I would be if there was not that type of technology.
