Topic 79: Meta-Analysis and Effect Size

Here is my presentation on Meta-Analysis and Effect Size!

About sjweber2

Hello everyone! My name is Sheldon Weber, and I am a senior at FHSU this year. I am an Information Systems major. I am from here in Hays and I love it here so I saw no reason to leave for college. I bought a rental property that I am currently remodeling so when I am not working on school work I am usually there. I love both my degree and construction even though they have nothing to do with each other. I look forward to getting to know everyone better and getting into the classwork!

  1. Hey Sheldon, solid presentation you have here. Effect size is very important when conducting a study. It helps the readers understand the strength or magnitude of a difference between two variables. A large effect size is considered around 0.8, small is considered to be around 0.2 and medium/moderate around 0.5. I like your example looking at the frequency of playing video games between men and women.

  2. My presentation introduced effect size so this continuation of the topic was very interesting to see. Your presentation was very informative and well put together. I was much longer than mine. Overall I think you did a very good job on this presentation.

  3. Great presentation Sheldon. Going over your example and the example from textbook help me to gather more knowledge about meta-analysis.Well explained with example.
Key point from book:Meta-analytic studies are an important adjunct to traditional, more subjective narrative reviews of literature, which are largely non-mathematical i.e., some particular statistics may be mentioned but the results of the studies being reviewed are not mathematically synthesized.
