Adopting FaceID and Touch ID

When Apple first came out with TouchID in 2013 I thought that it was the coolest thing ever, like I was a spy or something. I had no problems using TouchID as it was just my fingerprint. Then in 2017 when FaceID came out I was more skeptical about using it than I was with TouchID. While FaceID is more secure, It was more just the thought of having to use my face to unlock my phone that made me less excited to use it, but now I use it every day. While I did not HAVE to adopt this technology, my choice of smartphone has made my mind up for me. Right now I am in the confirmation stage because I am using it daily every time I unlock my phone. I still use it because it is secure and it is fast at unlocking my phone.

Now for the adopter stage, I would say I am in the Early Majority category. I let people test it out before I jumped onto the bandwagon.  I personally think it is the best way to go about things, letting others find the bugs before you invest in something.

Other examples of different innovations that I would be in a different category would be wearable technology. I have not used an Apple watch or any other smartwatch. It is just something I have not been interested in.

  1. Good topic, this innovation is pretty much forced upon us. I use touch id and really like it. Like you, I was/still am a little skeptical of face id. Mainly because I feel face id unlocks my phone a little too easily. With Samsung phones that show the time on the locked home screen, there are times I would just like to see what time it is and not unlock my phone.
