Presentation 2- 33,34,35,36

This is my week 10 presentation on questions 33-36. I hope this helps and I welcome feedback to help me do better!

About Shayna (She/Her)

Hey! My name is Shayna Salazar and I am a senior at FHSU studying Digital Media and Journalism. I hope to someday become a well known (and well liked) photojournalist who inspires others much like the ones before me have inspired me. I currently live in Colorado but next month I begin my journey of travelling as a military wife! I met my husband in 6th grade and we have been best friends since then. As for my college life, I attended FHSU on campus for three years and now I am finishing up online. I can't wait for what this class brings!

  1. Good job. I really liked how there were ways to form your question, the process seems very fluid and that makes it pretty approachable. It’s really something that can be done in almost any setting, by just asking questions, gathering data, and using that data to get results. It seems the most important step is first getting a good question formed, so the rest of the work goes smoothly.

  2. A lot of action research seems to depend on critical thinking skills, as your presentation mentioned. Obviously this is required, so that you can make smart, quick, and informed decisions while studying literature, and formulating a question. Do you believe this use of critical thinking is something that anyone can do? If so, perhaps it would be good to see it used more in academic circles, even if just as a warm-up to other, more formal, forms of research. I feel as if it’s closely related to library studies (I’m not sure what you’d actually call it), but I remember in high school and college that we’d always be introduced to the librarians and they’d go over how to do proper research. Some, not all, of the skills mentioned in our text were touched on.

I believe students would benefit in these times, being educated on how to perform action research, do literature reviews, and find answers to their questions in their own lives. What do you think?

    1. I can’t say that it is something that everyone can do the same, but I think each person has their own way of critical thinking. Some prefer to visualize and write things down and others can easily think it and put it on paper without having to form any models or draw up anything to see. I also remember in high school when the librarians would help us do research and I found it to be quite helpful at the time. I think in a class such as this one it would be helpful to have a college crash course from the librarians! I also believe that critical thinking is beneficial to students in several ways.

  3. Hello shayna ,

I really like the way you add some kind of questions at the end , which should we ask when we do action research.

    Thank you
