Plan to Research Phishing and Other Cyber Security Attacks

My initial research idea was about cyber security as a whole but no I have changed that to focus more on the certain attacks that can happen such as phishing and malware. I changed this because during our review an article assignment I was really interested in how many people are actually aware of these attacks. Which, if any, attacks are most people aware of? How do these people react if they see these attacks? Do they inform another individual or do they blindly click on a malicious link or attachment? I have not done much research yet but I will reference the article that I reviewed in that assignment.

  1. I think that is a really neat topic to study. I’m not sure what the statistics are but it feels like everyone has suffered from a phishing attack at one point in their life. Even this past week I got a suspicious text message that turned out to be a phishing attack, luckily I didn’t respond. I also agree with you that awareness needs to be drawn to the issue because far too few people know about the prevalence of phishing and malware attacks.

  2. Hi Nick
Cybersecurity is a big topic to cover. I think narrowing it down to Phishing and malware are good ideas just doing one or the other may not give you enough information to do the action research paper. There are many different types of phishing and malware attacks, like man in the middle, encrypting, and how to prevent them. I ran into a few journal articles on cybersecurity that includes phishing and malware information.
