Topic 42: Norm- and Criterion-Referenced Tests 

Norm-Referenced Tests are Tests that are evaluated in comparison between other students. Criterion-Referenced Tests are Tests that are evaluated in relation to a specific set of standards, usually shown as a percent. Two characteristics of well-made assessment tests are validity and reliability.

Topic 45: Measurement in Qualitative Research

Measurement in Qualitative Research is research that includes assembling and examining non-numerical data to understand theories, ideas, or experiences. It is used to gather a better understanding into a problem or generate new ideas for research. There are two types of  triangulation in qualitative research Data triangulation (interviews) and Method triangulation (interviews and observations) which help improve the validity and reliability.

  1. Interesting how it’s called “measurement” even though it’s qualitative data. I never thought the word was used in any other way than referring to quantitative data.
