Abigail Martinez: Introductions and Interests

Hi everyone! I don’t know how many times I’ve introduced myself at the start of a semester, but I still struggle with what to say. I have major imposter syndrome and am my own worst critic. I still have many big dreams to accomplish and the idea of being “in progress” is something I don’t like very much. Nonetheless, I am still proud of where I am considering that the life I’m living was once my dream.

I got to marry the boy I had a crush on as a kid and now we are our own little family living in the mountains. Recently, we moved to Denver for my husband to pursue career opportunities. We love it here so far and look forward to all of the hiking and exploring there is to do.

I have an associate in graphic design which will pair nicely with a bachelors focused in web and mobile application development. So far I’ve really enjoyed the program and look forward to future opportunities. Last semester, my favorite reading was The Inevitable by Kevin Kelly. I was really intrigued by his predictions and want to research the future of technology and AI further. I think this can be very beneficial as it will help me garner a better understanding of the future of my field and where our society is headed.

  1. Hey Abigail,
I too read “The Inevitable” by Kevin Kelly. It was an interesting read because Kelly presented several innovations that will be developed in the future. One innovation I can remember was creating glasses that can demonstrate text similar to a VR headset. Anyways, researching about the development of AI is going to be interesting to research, especially how society is becoming more dependent on technology. Good luck with your research!

  2. Hi Abigail! I relate so much to your post. I am a graphic design artist, as well, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in web and mobile application development. I love the mountains! Colorado is just breathtaking. I enjoyed reading your post! Good luck in this course!
