My beat will be on Hays neighborhoods and the beat I am considering is entertainment. I chose neighborhoods due to the events currently happening this beat is safer to gleam information for my reports.
I will be submitting my first story on a Thursday every two weeks or later depend that the information that I am going after is hard to reach and needing to find another source. The first report will sent on 9/6, and so on in every second week.
The nature of my beats will reports of events that will be coming in hays as a whole, information on the events of business in or at our neighbors around our city. About the overlap of reports I am thus far the only student doing the neighborhood beat and there is the possibility that I will not overlap on my reports. I will check on any events of happening in the hays and neighboring towns websites to see what to report. I do not any regular meeting at this time or later on but I will be looking into that information later on. In interviews will will get as much as I can but no one wants any interview I will respect their decision and continue with the information I was given. If there are any blogs or social media post that pertains the information that I am using I will ask for permission use is in my report.
Fort Hays State University will the university will be used in a sum of my reports. The topics and issues will mainly involve around Hays and the neighboring town and cities. The events that are happen in Hays will the gathering I shall visit. I have not found any officials that I need to visit thus far but I will find some in the later dates.
This has some potential, but if gatherings are frowned upon in Hays for a few more months, it’s going to be difficult to have a regular beat on what’s happening/not happening in Hays. If you are set on something of this nature, I would suggest tweaking your ideas some so you will be able to have new, fresh content each assignment. You simply don’t want to say nothing is going on again, or have the same small meetings mentioned every time. Those are better suited for public calendars.
