UAB host many events especially in October. They helped the students have fun for free time between classes. Thanks to COVID-19 things have started to become difficult.

The university activities board has been part of the university for many years and covid has impacted how it works.

Welcome Fort Hays this is the third beat report of David Ketron’s beat report assignments. I am interviewing the head of the Activities Board, Tina Wolbert.

I asked how she and the other are handling themselves during the Covid pandemic?

Her responds is that “it is real important to take care of yourself even more than usual even in student engagement they are trying to be there for one and another for all students. They put many safety protocols in for all events that happen in campus this Fall.

There are having multiple events to where they can have a couple and to have more protocols in place at those events. This week they had Stuff a Tiger already on Monday, there was pumpkin painting yesterday, they had Stuff a Tiger again yesterday at 4:30,  and another pumpkin painting today on 5-7 at Rarick Hall.

That was good to hear that there is something to do on campus with student free time. The next question I gave is have there been any forms of safety percussions that are place in the activities board?

Tina says that they make sure bring out small events, adding a limit to the amount of people to go to that event, and to have certain spaces for the event to be placed like having things outside. They ask the participant to exercise on wearing masks and limit the amount of face touching during these events.

It was good to hear that they are doing their best to control the current pandemic that we face today. Hygiene on your own hands is very important to low the chance of infection. Now the final question I have for the activities board is there any more events happening later in the month.

Tina happily answers that question. There is a multicultural event happening on Monday and on Wednesday. There is going to be an LGBTQ history event happening coming to campus as well on a Monday at 7. To find any of these event head Tigerlink where there will be link to that event. This is also a kind chaos event on the 23rd in the ballroom.

To my fellow Tigers I would to say stay strong and keep moving forward.
