The discussion in this activity is whether or not America needs the “common” journalist in today’s world. In current society, it is demonstrated that anyone can obtain fame and credibility by just the press of a button. Social media has become a huge attraction when it comes to things like news, lifestyle, music, art, etc. Even though anyone can have access to posting or discussing any type of news or current events, there is not always a guarantee that it is accurate or reliable. Many of those post can be considered as false news just for publicity or “clout.” That is why it is important for America to have journalists. Journalists are more reliable than people just putting out wrong information for the public to view.

It has become more important for information dissemination to take place. In order for people to function and perform they need to have more access to reliable news. Accountability has also became more important. People in power should be held responsible for their actions especially when doing wrong. When it comes to representation there has been more people that have been heard and noticed, but it has not been enough. More people and organizations such as Black Lives Matter, Women’s rights and others need and should be heard. And finally as for deliberation and conflict resolution you could say that both of these needs have pretty much remained the same.

All of these needs play a very important role in modern society. The people will always need to have reliable and accurate news. People who do wrong even in power will need to be held responsible for what they have done and everyone has the right to speak their mind and be heard on whatever their topic is. We as a nation need to do things the right way instead of just doing things for money and clout.
