I have been a registered nurse since 2010 following my graduation from Central Texas College. I spent serval years at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. During that time, I completed a nurse residency program, grew from a general medical surgical nurse to an intensive care nurse. I left floor nursing as a clinical educator for the medical surgical oncology service line after completing my BSN through Walden University. I continued in clinical education roles during my time at CHI Health. In 2019, I became the Stroke and Trauma Program Coordinator for Kearney Regional Medical Center. During this time, I helped the facility become a Primary Stroke Certified facility and began the path to American College of Surgeons Trauma System Verification.
I will become a nurse practitioner in 2022 when I complete my Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree from Fort Hays State University. I have completed a variety of clinical rotations in mostly rural areas, and enjoy community health. My DNP project focuses on improving health literacy by providing education and strategies to providers. By impacting providers practice, I hope that provider’s can elevate their patients health literacy skills.
In my personal life, my husband and I of twenty-plus years and I have three wonderful boys ranging from eight to twenty-three. We enjoy working on our yard, cruising in his vintage muscle car, camping and fishing.
