Pick a news story that interests you and analyze the story for the presence of the seven news values (timeliness, impact, currency, conflict, novelty/emotion, prominence and proximity). Be sure to mark the words or phrases that suggest that these news values are at play in the story. Next, identify the dominant news value in the story (the main reason why the story is news).
