A career that has been dominated by the male population over the years has been sportscasting. However, times are changing and it is time stop labeling careers as male or female dominate. Therefore, I have taken on researching the female shattering the glass ceiling of sportscasting. I have found alarming facts and articles that cover the struggles and triumphs that women have faced to turn sportscasting into a career that is female welcoming, such as the following:
Gender inequality in sports broadcasting stated, “As of 2014, 90 percent of editorial roles, 90 percent of assistant editorial roles, 88 percent of columnists, 87 percent of reporters and 95 percent of anchors, are men. Of the 183 sport talk shows, there are only two female hosts.”
With facts like the ones above, I can assure you that women are making progress in sportscasting. Women too, enjoy and understand sports just as men do. If you are interested in a career in sportscasting then stick around. There is more for you to learn!
