Introduction
A mantis found on the Howard Reynolds Nature Trails! Using spectacular natural history resources in the Museum and on our nature trails, our education and science staff presents experience-driven lessons and activities that get students directly involved in the process of science. We emphasize building knowledge, skills and the mental tools in a fun, safe, encouraging atmosphere. We love earth and life science, and we want to share that excitement students enthusiastic about learning amazing new things!

Program Details
These are half-day camps, running from 8:30am – 12:30pm.
Each registration is $150 per Sternberg Museum member, and $175 per non-member. Registrations are for the full week (five days) session of camps.
There are two sessions to choose from:
Session 1: June 17th – 21st
Session 2: July 29th – August 2ndQ: What if my student is not accepted into the camp they applied for? Do you refund the deposit and subsequent payment(s)?
A: 100% of paid tuition is refunded to any students not accepted to a camp they applied for.Q: What is your cancellation and refund policy?
A: Cancellations must be submitted in writing, via email or typed letter. Each camp registration is held to a 20-percent cancellation fee. If you cancel 30 to 10 days prior to the start of a program, half of the total fee is refundable. If you cancel 9 or fewer days prior to the start of the program, no amount of the fee is refundable. 4th & 5th graders

Introduction
Students examining modern mammal skulls and teeth! Our 4th and 5th graders will enjoy a deeper dive into earth and life science topics as they explore millions of years of amazing changes our planet has experienced! Using exhibits, teaching collections, and authentic field science equipment at the Museum, these older students will get to work on group discovery activities and multi-day projects as they explore how scientists go about making remarkable new discoveries. We’ll also get out of the Museum, taking short field trips to look for fossils and wildlife around our community. From the rock cycle and weather patterns to prehistoric beasts, all the way to magnificent modern wildlife, it’s sure to be a marvelous week of discovery!

Each registration is $300 per Sternberg Museum member, and $350 per non-member. Registrations are for the full week (five days) session of camps.
The camps run from July 15th – 19th.

Staff
Keri Maricle – Instructor
Keri Maricle is originally from North Texas, and has lived in Hays for the past seven years building an educational background in biology with an emphasis in botany. She graduated with her B.S. in Biology from Fort Hays State University (FHSU) in 2015, and her M.S. in Biology from FHSU in 2017. Maricle taught undergraduate laboratories in biology and botany at FHSU while she was a graduate student from 2015-2017. Currently, Maricle is the biology instructor at Thomas More-Prep Marian where she teaches courses in general biology, advanced biology, as well as human anatomy and physiology. She also works individually with her high school students on research projects to present at science fairs and conferences. In her spare time, Maricle enjoys spending time with her family including planning botanical adventures with her husband (a fellow botanist).
Special Guests!
Our elementary camps frequently feature special guest appearances by other Sternberg Museum and Fort Hays State University sciences staff! From rattlesnakes with Curtis Schmidt and giant tortoises with Thea Haugen, to exploring Nature Trails research with Dr. Mitch Greer, students have some fantastic opportunities to go behind the scenes with earth and life science activities happening right here in Hays!
