Erik Erikson
The best known theorist of psychosocial development. Like Sigmund Freud, Erikson believed personality developed in stages. The stages he identified are:
- Trust vs. Mistrust: Infancy
- Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt: Toddler
- Initiative vs. Guilt: Preschool
- Industry vs. Inferiority: School-aged
- Identity vs. Role confusion: Adolescence
