Other Theorists

Sigmund Freud’s theory of psychosocial development identified stages of development. These included:

  • Oral stage which occurs in infancy
  • Anal stage which marks toddlerhood
  • Phallic stage occurs in the preschool years
  • Latency stage begins during the school-age period
  • Genital stage marks adolescence

Nurture Theories were developed by the following:

  • Watson: Classic Conditioning
  • Skinner: Mechanistic Learning
  • Bandura: Social Learning

Humanistic Theorists included:

  • Maslow: his theory centers around basic needs (hierarchy) explaining human potential
  • Rogers: developed a client-centered approach
