Any Specific concerns by teens or parents?

An adolescent has four tasks to accomplish to become a well-adjusted adult. These tasks are categorized as: 1) independence, 2) body image, 3) peer relations, and 4) identity.

The developmental tasks for the teenager can be assessed during the entire visit. You will learn much about the teen while obtaining the history and by observation.

Some of the tasks you will evaluate include:
  • sense of self-confidence and well-being
  • independent decision-making skills
  • self-regulation, such as moral, emotional, and social competences
  • healthy behaviors, such as using seatbelts and helmets
