Growth

Growth is plotted on growth charts which differ by age and gender. The growth charts are available from the CDC for boys/girls birth to 2 years and 2 years to 18 years. Don’t forget to monitor their BMI beginning at 2 years.

Length
Infants Infants increase their length by 50% in the first year.
2 to 5 years Between 2 and 5 years, children grow 2.5 to 3.5 inches per year.
5 to 10 years Children 5 to 10 years, grow an average of 2.5 inches per year.
Adolescents Adolescents gain 50% of their adult weight.

 

Weight 
Infant [First Week] During the first week of life infants will lose weight, should not be more than a 10% weight loss.
Infant [7 days] Infants regain birth weight by 7 days.
4 to 6 month Double their birth weight by 4-6 months of age.
1 years Triple their birth weight by one year of age.
2 years Quadruples by two years of age.
2 to 5 years Between 2 and 5 years, children gain 4.5 to 6.5 pounds on average.
5 to 10 years Children 5 to 10 years, gain an average of 7 pounds per year.
Adolescents Adolescents achieve the final 15 to 20 % of their adult weight.
