Interval History

Ask about past history. Any visits to the emergency department or urgent care? Any changes in the health of anyone in the family?

Language

  • At this age, he is better able toexpress emotions and ideas.
  • May talk in abstract without really understanding the meaning.
  • He is learning to communicate clearly with friends.

  • Making friends is a critical task during this time.
  • Cliques may begin to form.
  • Needs to balance feelings in dealing with successes and failures.
  • Successful accomplishments are of high priority for him in order to build a positive self-image.
