I am the nurse for a Traditional Magnet Elementary School in the Wichita, Kansas area. I have been with the district for 3 years - my first year as a nurse substitute and my last two years as a full time school nurse. Previously, my nursing experience involved special needs preschoolers. I worked (and continue to work Summer Camp!) as a nurse at a non-profit preschool for Special Needs infants and children... serving students with Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, Autism and various genetic and physical deformities.

For six years, I took a break from professional nursing to start and raise a family... and in the process opened and operated a Natural Family Boutique. I utilized my nursing background and supported local families with breastfeeding, kangaroo care, cloth diapering... and general developmental needs with a eco-friendly mindset. I hosted ASL classes for families, coordinated breastfeeding support groups and became a babywearing educator.

Recently, I have returned to professional nursing, but also to advancing my education. I believe it important to be a lifelong learner and to be a positive role model to my girls. I completed my BSN in 2018 and have started the BSN-DNP program with FHSU. I have always been interested in being a Family Nurse Practitioner - and it seems that goal is now attainable.

I enjoy that Professional Nursing is flexible. There are many opportunities to use your education whether in a hospital, clinic or in the community. I also appreciate the holistic approach inherent to nursing. This is what sparked my interest and continues to motivate me today... To nurture, support and advocate for the whole person, family and community.
