Great presentation! Teamwork is more important than ever in our healthcare world that requires an interdisciplinary team to care for complex patients. Some effective strategies to providing effective teamwork is to share as much information with the team as possible, balancing freedom and guidance, allow people to express their creativity and skills, making the challenge visceral, and remembering to have fun (Johnson, 2005).

You guys did great on your presentation! I did not have any team building activities myself in general orientation, but I did in my nursing new grad orientation. It really seemed to help us come out of our shells and encouraged more interaction and conversation during the rest of our classes. Another suggestion would be to incorporate some teambuilding activities into the monthly meetings that most units have. Craig and Mckeown(2015) state that team building must constantly be assessed to determine if the team is being successful or if things need to change.

Incorporating team building activities into monthly staff meetings would be helpful. It can help the different shifts interact and work together. Good idea Caitlin. I agree it is a good idea to evaluate how the staff responds to the team building activities.
Team building activities is a great idea! Having a different activity every quarter would be helpful. Hospital orientations that I have been to have been very boring which make for long days. Spicing up orientation and creating teamwork activities would be so beneficial in several ways and you would get to know staff in different departments. Great presentation.
Great job on the presentation. You have picked out a very practical topic! Team building is so important. I wish that team building was a greater priority where I work. I think that we have a great team, but no management strategies for team building have ever been implemented. When nurses feel supported by their team members, job satisfaction and patient care increases in my opinion.
