Thank you for the overview on effective delegation and the 14 principles of delegation helped to clarify how to delegate effectively. As a charge nurse I often wonder about my liability in court with delegation of appropriate patients to the right nurse. I know that matching skills to the acuity of a patient is just as much my responsibility as it is the primary nurse’s that assumes care of the patient. Avoiding foreseeable and unreasonable risks to patients when delegating is the most important aspect (Brent, 2015).
Great video and information! I was very intrigued by the 5 styles new nurses use to delegate. As a new nurse, I was most definitely a do it all nurse. I had a very hard time delegating and would stay late or come in early to make sure I had everything completed during my shift. I agree completely that delegation is a skill. As a more experienced nurse, I find it much easier to delegate tasks and feel comfortable doing so.
Thank you for your presentation! Delegation is a topic that is hit over and over again in nursing school but it is completely different when practicing it outside of the school environment. The answers are not always black and white. I enjoyed seeing the different types of delegation and the important aspects of it. It was a good reminder for us all! I, myself, still have troubles delegating sometimes as I have the tendency to want to do everything myself. A bad habit that I need to break!
Great presentation. I liked all the different principles of delegations. I think it is very important as a nurse to consider all aspects that go into delegating tasks to others. When all the guidelines are followed correctly a good judgement is used when choosing who to delegate a task to. I still have the habit to do things myself and not delegate as often but I am working towards that.
It is really important to know who and what to delegate. When delegating one needs to carefully assign task to the person best suited for it at the time. Proper delegation makes the job easier for the rest of staff and best outcomes for the patients.

I believe delegation is absolutely necessary and when used correctly, very beneficial. Without delegation, I would get burned out quickly!
