In the video, Khawand (2014), mentions that listening is the best tool that one can use to manage conflict in the workplace. It not only allows the other person to feel heard, but they are also more likely to be open and willing to find better solutions, and possibly accept your side/solution. The video also encouraged one to be compassionate and to be willing to accept one’s own mistakes. Far too often, people are unwilling to listen to other opinions and forget that there are actually better ideas out there.
My “Hot Button” are my emotions in general. If I feel passionate about a topic or problem, I get fixated on the problem and I build a barrier to other options. I know that I need to open my mind and be not only more receptive but respecting of other opinions.

You make a good point. Emotions can cause us to not be able to see the whole picture and that is why it is important to talk to others so they can help us see what we might be missing. Sometimes it just takes having an open dialogue and listening to resolve an issue.
