Nichole, great presentation! I knew little to nothing about kidney dialysis, so I feel like I learned a great deal today! Your presentation got me thinking about something that I see commonly in my line of work, sleep medicine. As I have studied dialysis patients in the past, I was always amazed at how awful their sleep was in relation to the amount of periodic limb movements that they have during sleep. These patients literally kick and move all night long making good sleep an almost impossibility. It turns out that periodic limb movements of sleep and restless legs syndrome have a very close tie to iron deficiency. Your presentation tied the whole relationship together for me. I will be on the lookout next time I study a dialysis patient and review their labs and medications list more closely. Again, great presentation!
