This is a wonderful video and was put together very well. I never had thought about the female to male gender changes and how screenings are not done due to non-compliance. It is awesome that military has finally accepting transgenders and not tracking them. I can see where it would be hard to go back and find when the last cervical screening was done.
Thank you! This has been a subject I am very passionate about and have been since the military announced that transgender soldiers would be fully accepted into the military. I am hopeful that my efforts will make some changes for the better!
This topic really grabbed my attention. I never considered some of the over-looked procedures that may stem from being transgender. Military personnel have the added benefit of DOD provided healthcare. In a sensitivity training class I heard a male-to-female transgender adult discuss how having a prostate exam created all kinds of issues with the insurance company. And I agree that more training among healthcare providers are needed to address the unique needs of the transgender population. In fact, some medical school are now creating classes related to transgender care as a part of the curriculum. Hopefully that will be implemented at all medical schools nationwide.
