I thought your presentation was very well put together and thorough. I have often thought about someday working in hospice but honestly had not thought about clinical issues this area of nursing faces. Let alone how alcohol and other addictions affect hospice care. I think you did a great job and I learned a lot.

I really enjoyed your VOPP. I’ve never been employed as a Hospice nurse, nor have I really thought about what all it would entail. It’s extremely important to screen your patients regarding alcohol and opioid use. By using the CAGE screening and the opioid risk tool screenings, would help the PCP (primary care physician) know how to properly order morphine and lorazepam. This is a patient safety issue that obvious needs to have more accountability. Thank you, very informative.

Very informative, I could not thought of a need for assessment in alcohol and opioid dependency there. Although, for proper care and safety of patients and staff is necessary to screen those in our care.

That is a great presentation about hospice care. I wonder the challenges hospice nurses face with patients family. I have encountered family members that wants opioids given against nurses advise or rather when there is no need for it. They sometimes say that they just want it to be over with, this is ethical dilemma.
