When I started out in a nursing home in 1996 right out of my CNA class, I worked with older CNAs. I was the only one who would wear gloves when doing peri-care I think mainly because: 1. We only had one box in small and large and they were kept at the nurses station. 2. The older CNA’s had been in doing peri-care since the 70’s and never got in the habit of wearing gloves.
I have seen it too. Older nurses seem to get stuck on their way of doing things.
Oh my goodness! Really? I would hope that they would not do peri-care without gloves. Times have changed, and we are more knowledgable about viruses, bacteria, and transmission.
