Introduction

Hello everyone. My name is Olufunmilayo Ogunlami and I usually go by Funmi. I have been an RN for 9 years. I currently work on an Inpatient rehab floor at my place of work. I worked in Long term care facilities when I first started working as a nurse and I do float sometimes to Med-Surg floor at my place of work. Due to the fact that most of my nursing career is in Inpatient rehabilitation nursing, I consider my self as an Inpatient Rehab nurse. I am married and my husband is a Pastor. I like cooking and listening to Christian music.

Research plays an important role in my nursing practice. Research has helped to develop evidence based practice and guidelines for rehabilitation nursing. We use Meditech to document at work and over a year ago, Meditech was updated to reflect evidence based practice in our documentation. Evidence based practice through research has improved our nursing care and promote better outcomes in the health of our patients. Examples include infection control through frequent hand washing, using chlorhexidine wipes for patients with central lines and foley catheters, and preventing dependent loops in foley catheters.

I wish everyone a good semester.
