Think about your everyday routine!

If you consider what you do every day, you will quickly notice how much we rely on technology to get through the day. Whether it is sending emails to colleagues or clients, reading the news over a morning coffee, transferring money to another account, doing grocery shopping, or relaxing with a bit of gaming, a digital influence is most probably involved. If you then take all those aspects, you will quickly realize that there are plenty of companies powering those devices and creating those webpages and apps that allow you to fulfil your daily tasks. This is a sign not only of which direction the world is heading but is also a glimpse into what type of jobs will be required in the future.

Keep an eye on emerging markets!

As well as having an idea of what jobs might be required in the future, it is also worth keeping an eye on potential markets that are becoming more popular. With the emergence of Esports, the electronic branch of sports is rapidly interesting prospective students, with Esports degree programs now available at colleges and universities around the world.

In keeping with the digital topic, another surprise industry that is starting to gain a greater following is online sports betting. The clue is in the “online” aspect. Individuals betting on the Olympics for example will benefit from all the work put into developing an online platform that could potentially stream the live action too. Furthermore, advancements in coding allow people to build apps for mobile phones that broaden the outreach of online betting companies.

Like with most online phenomena, including the emerging Esports market, the convenience and quality of the gameplay is attracting more people to these platforms. Esports and online sportsbooks are just two examples of emerging markets that might require a larger workforce in the future as they gain more popularity. We are right in the midst of a digital movement, the question for students is where it is heading?
