Module 8: Reflection of the semester

My inital challenge was educating all of the providers at my inital session. This was a very important meeting as I felt this would allow them to know that I had the knowledge base to provide them with additional education than what they already knew, to explain to them what I was wanting to do with my project, and to allow them to ask questions. As a perso that gets nervous when speaking this in itself was a challenge.

THe last four months allowed me to see the implmentation of something that I am very passionate about. I hope that educating these providers, that will inturn provide more information to their patients will improve rates, or at least allow patient to make a more informed decision.

Excerpt from my paper:

Research has allowed me to see the importance of evidence-based practice and why it is important to obtain and utilize research so that you are treating patient with the best care and guidance out there. It allows the patient to receive the best care currently available according to the guidelines.

Evidence based practice is the key to our care for patients. This project has allowed me to see the importance the research has and the role it plays in day to day practice.

  1. Violet,
I get nervous too! Public speaking is not my standout attribute!
I want to get better. From your sharings this semester, it appears you have really gotten things done and organized, knowing where you are going. It will be wonderful to see us all move forward next semester!

    1. Kay- I have gotten better at it over the years, but I definitely get nervous. I am looking forward to us moving forward as well.

  2. You are very soft spoken but your soft spoken nature is also very calming and appreciated. I’m sure the group you presented your Q&A to appreciated that about you as well.
Evidence based practice is key to our care of patients. I have grown to appreciate the research side of nursing through this whole process as well. I am certain that you will continue to thoroughly research and think through your decisions as an advanced practice nurse.

    1. Vicki- I have always been soft spoken, but I had once had someone tell me that when you are soft spoken people are more apt to focus to be able to hear you. I hope that there is actually some validity to that. I hope that in the future I will be able to be a practioner and utilize evidence practice in all that I do.

  3. Watching you grow as a leader and gain self-confidence has been an honor for me this semester. I understand how speaking can be nerve-racking but you pushed through and came out shining. I agree with you when you speak of the importance of research studies. The assignments have also enlightened me as to the importance of evidence-based guidelines and practice. Very nice job. And congratulations on your project.
