I have to say, it was a bit of a relief to see that the classmates all had different concerns about the upcoming research proposal. However, there is no doubt that my worries and possible difficulties are many times more than theirs, just thinking about them makes me very anxious. I still haven’t nailed down my topic. I have thought about the research related to COVID-19 or vaccines because this is definitely a hot topic and there should be a lot of data. However, the more popular the topic is, the more attention it receives, the greater my pressure will be. Besides, and I really want to find an area that I care about and that I’m interested in, that will give me the motivation to really do the research.
I think I may choose a topic related to campus violence and even crime caused by college students’ even teenagers’ mental health because I have always been passionate about mental health. I don’t know whether it meets the requirements, as it has no great connection with my current media major. The next step is to consider whether the references are Chinese or foreign, a question I have always struggled with. Also, should I compare the data between China and the US? I am thankful that the midterm exam is finally over and has given me time to think about this research direction. I can’t wait to see everyone’s proposals, good luck to us all.
