TikTok is a young program produced three years ago. While the program maybe only three years old its popularity has gained it mass adoption of the younger generation. I discovered TikTok when my sister one day asked me to be in a video with her. I had no idea what the video was about or what the platform was.  My sister informed me that it was a new site called TikTok. While many people will think that Tiktok has reached the final level of conformation. The evidence shows their may be some tough waters a head.

So why is TikTok so popular? Its an improvement from twitter it allows a user to broadcast emotion and intent far clearer through a camera rather then just written text.  The main flaw with TikTok is the time constraints as most TikToks don’t reach a minute long. So have a political/serious/complicated conversation is almost impossible without simplifying the problem to the point where the conversation can no longer justify its existence. It causes confusion/misunderstanding between people and can lead to misinformation. For these reasons among others like China’s influence on the app itself as it records data. The likely hood of it remaining relevant is rather low. I would say that TikTok is still in its implementation phase and lacks the trust/age to justify its Conformation. As I have seen similar sites like vine and Instagram competing for the same market. For these reasons I question its progression to the final stage.

Currently I believe I am sitting in the late majority for TikTok and the company will soon have a decrease in users. As Instagram/Facebook/twitter all compete for the domination of the short video. The reason I say I am in the late majority is that Vine was really the inventor of this platform and TikTok merely adjusted it. That’s the reason I would say that I am in the late majority buts its also because the market is so oversaturated.

I have also watched other projects and innovations like Vine. I watched the early adopters from the beginning. While I never uploaded a video, I knew it had great potential for short skits, conversations, and other activates. I knew that technology from its inception would go to the mainstream.

One technology I am in the Conformation stage in is Discord/YouTube. I prefer to hear a persons voice when communicating with them. Video is optional but both platforms support video format/streaming. Which is why I prefer both as discord is used more generally for private conversations among friends while YouTube is more public discussion.
