Hello my name is Angel Martinez, I currently work at Starbucks and love playing League of Legends. I am really looking forward to this classes content. Doing research on digital topics is very interesting and I am intrigued by all the methods we will learn so we are able to do some critical thinking in the field. Topics that really interest me are coding, gaming, and digital technology. These topics are what I would like to dive in, learn, and explore more.
One question that almost always pops up when it comes to technology is how much screen time is too much screen time? Some peoples lives revolve around computers now a days whether it is work, entertainment, or just social purposes. The screens are everywhere in our pockets and homes that there is almost no way to completely run away from them. To some degree, I would say it is about self control or just discipline. There are also so many factors that must be considered. This topic is something that really intrigues me and would like really do some critical investigating on.
As for a group name I think Team Legends sounds cool but I may be a little biased.
As someone who also spends a lot of time in front of a screen I can see why you would choose this topic. I definitely feel there could be a lot more preventative measures taken in terms of informing the youth and just people in general of how much screen time we should have. Not only for our mental health’s but for our poor eyes that get roasted everyday we look at the screen.
Of course, and now that we have to study or work in Canada, the screen time has increased to almost 18 hours. I am also aware of the burden of screens on our vision, and how the radiation from electronic devices can make us sleepy and unable to concentrate. I used to change the background of all my screens to green, thinking it was better for my eyes. >.<
I like your topic choice because I chose the topic of “The Impact of Technology on our Mental Health” and I feel like our topics are closely related. I say this because, while I don’t think technology alone has negative impacts on our mental health, our relationship with technology can lead to these negative impacts. Looking into how much screen time is too much, could also help with the research of my topic to see at what point an individual’s relationship with technology becomes unhealthy and starts to have negative impacts on our mental health.
