As the documented use of social media continues to climb, so have concerns surrounding its effect on mental health. To avoid potential negative implications with the use of social media it is important to monitor the amount of time on social media and what motivates individuals to continue to use it. My study hopes to add more value to already completed research surrounding social media use and mental health implications. By looking directly at Instagram and monitoring users’ usage time it will be easy to understand the relationship between screen time and mental health.
