Proposal Outline

Introduction

• Brief summary of the research and its methods. 

Literature Review

• Introducing previous research. 
• Discussing the importance of the research and where it stands compared to others.
• General summary of methods.
• General research statement: I propose content analysis be applied to researching how social media influence healthcare in order to fill the gap in the existing research regarding social media and public opinion. 

Methodology

• Population
  • Facebook’s users who participate in one of three selected Facebook groups. 
    • Each group has to have at least 1000 members.
• Sample
  • All selected posts must be related to healthcare.
  • Each post has to have at least a 2% engagement.
  • Posts must be made within the selected groups.
  • Content can be written or visual 
• Variables 
  • Contents of the posts.
    • The theme of the article or general post.
    • Trying to identify the origin of the information.
  • Users’ interactions with the post.
    • The reaction of agreement or opposition. 
    • The overall response to the post
  • Healthcare workers’ response. 
• Method of analysis 
  • For this research, I will be using content analysis. 
    • First, I will analyze the contents of the selected posts and the interactions in each one. 
    • Then I will deduct the way this content affects healthcare by comparing the information gathered from the content analysis and the information provided by healthcare professionals. 

Discussion

• Explain why the steps above were used for this specific research. 
• Elaborate on the weaknesses and strengths of the investigation. 
• Present the discussion about the future implications of the research.
