Insight into Videogame Marketing.

My initial research idea was about video games and that is what. I wasn’t sure where exactly I wanted to take it at this point. There were many different ways I could have gone with this idea which is why I have decided to stay with the topic of video games.

I want to find out how video game consoles marketing is focused on now since the main selling point for the longest has been graphics and resolution have now both reached almost the peak of what they can be. There are several different ways that this can go now. For a secondary question, I guess the best one would be if there is even an interest in changing marketing strategies? This is something I will make sure to consider in my research and how it will affect my proposal.

For databases that I intend to use, I have found three options. Forsyth, ABI/INFORM Collection, and Google Scholar. There is a certain reason for this. Video Games are not something that is particularly researched much. My expectation is that I might have some trouble finding much about the marketing of consoles. I did take a quick glance and most research is about the experience of videogames rather than the marketing of the consoles. That is why I picked the three databases that I did as I feel they will give me the most results possible to downsize to what I need.

  1. This is very interesting, I feel like the selling point for game/console companies now is what console they can get there game to be one and be an exclusive title, kind of like Halo is for Xbox and God of War is for Playstation.
