My focus is on how far technology has been jumpstarted due to the ongoing pandemic and problems brought forward due to the rapid change. I would like to see how much the pandemic has changed everyday life from a technological standpoint, the good and the bad.
1st Search
- Database: Applied Science & Technology
- Search: forecasting technology not weather
- Limiters: Peer Reviewed and between 2015-2021
- Results: 49
The search was helpful because it brought back information about predictions of the future of technology and how it will shape our future. It still brought back results around weather, but the “not weather” helped trim down the number and find a handful of valuable results.
2nd Search
- Database: Applied Science & Technology
- Search: technology and covid
- Limiters: Full text, peer-reviewed, and between 2019-2021
- Results: 61
This search was almost useless except for one source that had some response questions around how covid impacted them. Most of the results that come back dealt with the lubricant industry and how certain technologies can affect the transmission of covid.
3rd Search
- Database: Applied Science & Technology
- Search: technology and telework
- Limiters: Full text, peer-reviewed, and between 2019-2021
- Results: 5
The search was a bit helpful. One of the results it brought up I already have through my other searches, but it did bring up a result over what makes a great remote employee while mentioning covid, which should be helpful for my proposal.
4th Search
- Database: Computer Science Collection
- Search: Technology advancement and covid
- Limiters: Full text
- Results: 47
Most of the results that were brought back didn’t apply to my topic, but there were two results that should be helpful, and I am glad I found them.
5th Search
- Database: Applied Science & Technology
- Search: technology and covid and telework
- Limiters: Full text, peer-reviewed, and between 2019-2021
- Results: 2
The search was not helpful. It brought back two results, and both were not useful for my topic.
Reaching Search Saturation

I believe I have reached search saturation for the most part because I continue to find the same articles I have previously found using different search terms and limiters, or the articles don’t apply to my topic in any way. I also believe that I have enough sources to be able to write my final paper. When writing my paper, I may need to find additional sources if I feel like I am missing something, but I have reached search saturation until then.

They were trying to predict what the year 2022 would look like from a technology standpoint and how they would intertwine with one another. They got responses back from several hundred scientists and engineers to rank 23 technology areas. The article then goes into depth over some of the new technology areas and what they will look like in 2022.
The source was helpful because I could see what predictions were made for the coming year and whether those predictions have come true. All of the predictions that they made have come to fruition one way or another. In the article, they mentioned meeting face-to-face several times but never saw telework becoming prominent in the future.

The article assesses the impacts that covid has made on the lubricant industry. It asked for responses back to questions on how covid has impacted them from a personal level. It also went into depth on three ways covid has impacted the lubricant industry, some for good and others not so much.
The source was helpful because of the responses it got back regarding some of the questions it asked its readers. The source applies closely to my topic, and I may end up using it for my paper.

I don’t know how to add a link to this source because there is no DOI number. Here is the link to the source, though. http://ezproxy.fhsu.edu:2048/login?url=https://search-ebscohost-com.ezproxy.fhsu.edu/login.aspx?direct=true&db=asa&AN=149429550&site=ehost-live&scope=site

The shorter article goes into brief summaries of how covid is shaping the Internet of Things (IoT). It talks about IoT in remote work, online schooling, healthcare, and its impact on the industrial market. Each category mentions how it was affected by covid, how they were required to change due to the pandemic, and how IoT is front and center.
The source was valuable from just reading a short summary of the impact covid has made on IoT in the major categories most people face. It was also helpful because it mentioned how the IoT plays an essential role in shaping the new normal because of the pandemic. I don’t know if I will be using this source for my paper because it doesn’t mention any numbers, but it was still valuable to read and gather a slightly more extensive scope of the impact covid has made on areas of life.

This source deals with the lubricant industry and what makes you a great remote employee. It conducted a survey given to industry leaders in the lubricant industry over remote work and then mentioned other studies regarding the impact that covid has made in the switch to remote work. It then goes through a list of things that would make you a great remote employee.
This source will be very useful for my paper. The article gathered several studies that dealt with how covid has impacted remote work today and where it will be in the future. Even though the paper’s focus is on the lubricant industry, I’m almost positive I will be using this source on my final paper because it applies to my topic very well.

The article discusses the highlights from the recent discussion at the event “Future of Technology: Beyond Covid-19.” The event is targeted at CIOs. It quotes or paraphrases multiple points within the event and adds additional information to back up when needed. The main points are the rapid change in technology, how it has changed the business arena, and what the future holds.
This article was helpful for my topic because it has quotes from several CIOs’ standpoints, discussing the impact that covid has made on the future of technology. It dives into specific points such as we have had two years of technology transformation all happening with two months. I will most likely be using this article just for the quotes given by the CIOs. I am glad that I was able to find this article.
