The topic of my search is “bias in research”.
Using google scholar I found approximately 230,000 results using “bias in researches” as my search terms.
Judging from the results most of them would be applicable to my research due to their contents regarding how bias is filtered out and how to detect bias in other researches.
I believe I have reached saturation from this topic and these searches. Bias in research has a method of being filtered out so that any researcher can present results with them, this makes is take only a few different readings to understand bias in research.
1. Rigterink, Anouk S. (2013) Who researches the researchers? Justice and Security Research Programme Blog (25 Nov 2013). Website.
The main argument of this article is about how to determine if other researchers are presenting their results without bias. This is a useful source because it pertains very closely to my research topic. This will fit into my research by explaining how researchers assess articles for bias from other researchers.
2. Althubaiti A. (2016). Information bias in health research: definition, pitfalls, and adjustment methods. Journal of multidisciplinary healthcare, 9, 211–217. https://doi.org/10.2147/JMDH.S104807
The main argument of this article is information bias in health research, which is still quite useful for my topic even though it is regarding health and not information technology. This will fit into my research by describing bias in research.
3. Pannucci, C. J., & Wilkins, E. G. (2010). Identifying and avoiding bias in research. Plastic and reconstructive surgery, 126(2), 619–625. https://doi.org/10.1097/PRS.0b013e3181de24bc
This article’s main argument is about both finding and avoiding bias in research. This is the same topic as my research making it useful to my project.
4. Simundić AM. Bias in research. Biochem Med (Zagreb). 2013;23(1):12-5. doi: 10.11613/bm.2013.003. PMID: 23457761; PMCID: PMC3900086.
This article is generally about bias in research. The reason that this is a useful source is because of its contents and how it can be applied to my research. This will fit into my research by further explaining bias in research.
5. Lazaridou, K., & Krestel, R. (2016). Identifying political bias in news articles. Bulletin of the IEEE TCDL, 12.
This article is about finding political bias in news articles. The reason that this is useful is because this is one of the most commonly used bias identification topics and has been refined over decades of research. This will fit into my project by explaining how anybody can determine the political bias of an article.
