Implementing IPv6 in a Network – Research Saturation

My topic is about implementing IPv6 network addressing within an existing network. This is a popular topic in the IT field and I feel like it works well with my degree that I am pursuing.

Beckman, M. (2010). IPv6 Hands-On Lab Setup Guide. Windows IT Pro16(3), 51–54.

This article is a review of how to set up a lab to experiment with IPv6 in an LAN. It explores the IPv6 address, deployment techniques, and various connection methods via Internet Service Providers. This type of resource could assist with me setting up how I would want to further my research for my proposal.

This paper discusses key points that network engineers will have to face when implementing IPv6. It reviews what worked out and what didn’t work out when organizations put IPv6 into play on their networks. I think this resource will be useful when I work on my proposal because it reviews the actual implementation process and goes over a successful deployment of IPv6. This type of resource could really help me pin down a methodology for my proposal.

Haugh, M. (2012). Service Providers: The IPv6 Bell Tolls for Thee. EE: Evaluation Engineering51(9), 46–49.

This article reviews how internet service providers plan to handle the influx of IPv6 addresses. The author goes into how both versions of IP will be supported as networks are upgraded and what the future of networking looks like from the perspective of internet service providers. I think this article will be useful because it looks at the IPv6 implementation from a wide area network perspective. My theory is that IPv6 implementation has to begin with the service providers and then trickle down to force the hands of the smaller organizations to conform. I think this article will give me more insight.

This articles reviews what has worked and not worked in IPv6 implementations. It reviews successful strategies for implementing the address transition. I think this will be useful to me in further solidifying the methodology for my proposal. You’ll notice that many of my articles this week are geared towards my methodology and that is because I feel like I have found enough information regarding the background of IP and what is expected in the upgrading of networks. Now I am moving towards how to upgrade the network to fit into the IPv6 addressing.

Wong, W. (2002). Support IPv6 Now Or Later? Electronic Design50(17), 46–49.

This article goes over what to expect as IPv6 rolls out. It reviews where what is impacted in the OSI layers and what each part can expect as the future of technology moves forward. I think this article will be useful for me because it gives me an idea of what to expect and what companies are doing in regards to the IP transition. I know some organizations are doing their part in pushing the transition and this article will further discuss that for me to explore in my proposal.

Have you reached Saturation?

I feel like I have because towards the end of my 5 searches I was having a hard time finding new results. I found a lot of repeat results, I discovered some databases that worked for me previously no longer had links to the articles I was interested in exploring. Furthering my research from here is feeling nearly impossible so I think I have reached the end of my rope and am ready to start on my proposal.
