This search seemed to be the most useful. Finding plenty of searches surrounding young adults influence on materialism. Especially when the behavior is learned through consumed media like tv or online.
Usefulness:
This source looks at the deemed narcissistic and entitled generation and their negative relationship with reality TV. The study looked to investigate the impact of reality tv shows on young adults and how that influenced their perceived entitlement and self-centered attitude. Using an online questionnaire, they asked 527 participants ranging from 15-21 years old. The findings showed that the more reality tv is consumed, the more the young adult was to feel entitled or selfish. They presume that adolescents’ are mimicking the behavior of those individuals on television.
