I will keep my initial research idea to see how big of an impact covid has had in jumpstarting the use of technology to create a more digital future. I also would like to see some of the problems that occurred because of the shift to online happened so quickly.
I have known many people who were forced to work from home because of the pandemic. I would like to explore where the expected trajectory of the use of technology was supposed to be today and where is it today? Was it caused because of covid or some other reason or both? Another area I would like to explore would be to see how this leap in technology introduced problems and concerns? I have also known a few people who have struggled to move to the online environment, mainly older, because it happened so quickly and they could not learn fast enough, thus being less productive than previously.
I have found one research paper by Stiles & Smart (2021) that looked into where people work from between 2003 to 2017 and compared it to today’s findings. They also look into telework and how it has changed people’s lives and impacted the outside world, such as congestion on the roads. They also have predictions of where the future holds based on their collected data and others.
I believe the three databases that would be the best for my research are Applied
Science & Technology, Computer Science Collection, and Computer Source. I believe these three databases are the best because my research revolves around technology, how it has changed since covid, and the future. Every one of these databases’ descriptions fits these ideas.

Christopher,
This is a great relevant topic. It would be really interesting to take a look at the number of people who continue to work from home over the next few years. Then in 10+ years looking how the pandemic affected the workforce working from home nationwide.
I am very interested to see what you are able to find on the difficulties of the older generation to keep up with technology due to them being forced to learn overnight because of covid. Most of the attention seams to be on the schools and how kids are dealing with it so we don’t get to see much of how other generations are being effected. Sounds like a really good topic!
This is a very interesting topic as I am sure a lot of new stuff has been created due to having an obstacle such as a pandemic in the way. I just did a research paper over the first moon landing and all the technology that came out of it due to all the federal spending in research. A lot of random things actually benefit from factors such as these and it would be interesting to find out what positives came from COVID.
