Live Streaming: All Time Highs and All Time Lows

  1. Your initial research idea and your current research idea.

I originally wanted to figure out how to improve fhsu student engagement with local music events in the area. However, upon getting into this lesson and reviewing the assignment a little more, I’ve decided to go a different route. Instead, I will research how artist royalties are changing over time and their effects on the content creators.

  1. What do you want to find out in your research area?

The main goal is to look at past records of where the prices have been going and compare them with today’s rates. Has streaming revenue increased for the companies? Are the content creates being given fair pay for their streams? What predictions or hopes can we make for the future?

  1. Peruse Forsyth Library Databases and/or our library guide to identify at least three databases you could use to begin your search for related research.
    • Music Index
    • Emerald Insight
    • Oxford Music Online

I chose these three databases since they delve into the topics of music, the arts, culture, and human interactions. A quick skim of some online journals on each database helped me to decide if they would be suitable for this topic which I’m heavily considering.
