Proposal Discussion – Week 8

Working through the guidelines I didn’t have any questions really. The outline is structure well and doesn’t really leave anything unanswered that I personally fell is necessary. I feel that its important to choose something that isn’t too open-ended which is why I personally decided to focus on the ethics of cryptocurrency instead of cryptocurrency from a general standpoint.

The most challenging portion of the research proposal will be combating bias when it comes to the ethics of Crypto both from the power users and those against it. Its important that both sides are investigated to understand both viewpoints and not just be influenced by one side. This is also a challenge when looking into research based on potential environmental issues. There is a ton of misinformation that has been introduced by those for and against cryptocurrency.

While making this proposal I will enjoy being able to take a deeper look into some of the less studied aspects of cryptocurrencies. Its also will give me a good idea of the potential for crypto in its current state. As well as the potential negative aspects crypto currently brings when looking at its impact in poor countries and on environments.

Overall, there is a lot to do and to look forward to when structuring this proposal. I have a decent understanding of what is being asked of us with this project and hope that it can bring to light some of the other potential issues or benefits with cryptocurrencies.

  1. Just remember, the proposal will lay out a research study that can develop new information on your topic. Bias shouldn’t be an issue if you use the process correctly and word it well. However, bias could be a perfectly good critique to explain in your literature review.
