Topic 49: Consensual Qualitative Research Design

Today’s video will be discussing what consensual qualitative research (CQR) is, the sample sizes of CQR, the three CQR methods, and the checks present within the research design. When covering the CQR methods, it is important to note that the design itself requires individuals to work in a team during each phase of the project. The purpose of the teams are to eliminate possible biases and allow the team to be able to view the topic from different perspectives rather than relying on one individual to carry the entire research project.

PostScript from Dr. Loggins: To better understand CQR, I’d advice checking the Wang & Heffner article used by the text authors as Example 1. WangHeppner2011_CQR

  1. Very good presentation. I think the way you broke things down may helped me understand some topics a little better, specifically the domain coding part. What I noticed most from your presentation was how many times things are reviewed in Consensual Qualitative Research Design to make as sure as possible that things are unbiased.
